Enabling tips adds a prompt on the customer-facing payment screen where the customer selects or enters a tip amount before their card is charged. Tips can be configured as percentage-based or fixed-amount presets, with up to four options displayed.

Configure tips

Open the Tips tab

From the Settings page, click the Tips tab.

Enable tips

Toggle Ask for tips on.

Select the tip type

Choose Percentage to show tip options as a percentage of the subtotal, or Amount to show fixed dollar amounts.

Enter tip values

Enter up to four tip values. The fourth option is optional — if left blank, it will not appear on the payment prompt.

Save

Click Save.

Tip on pre-tax amount

If regional laws require that tips be calculated on the subtotal before tax, enable Tip on Pre-Tax Amount. When enabled, the tip prompt appears after tax is displayed and the tip is calculated against the pre-tax subtotal rather than the total.

Notes

The fourth tip option is not compatible with the Poynt C device. If the merchant uses a Poynt C, leave the fourth value blank or use only three tip options.
