Prepare catalog products for a counter scale. Taliup HQ stores the SKU, price per unit, and Weighable flag. Taliup POS reads the printed sticker (or a typed weight) at Register. Cashiers scan and type weight on the terminal. See Scale barcodes.
You do not pair the scale to Taliup HQ. Program the same 5-digit PLU on the scale and in the product SKU.

Prerequisites

  • The Catalog feature is on the entity plan. Ask your ISO admin to enable it in Plans & Features if you do not see Catalogs in the sidebar.
  • The product is on the catalog the terminal uses. A product that exists but is not on that catalog returns Product not found on scan.

Two kinds of scale labels

Weight labels and Enter weight on POS both need a catalog price per unit. Custom price and Weighable cannot be on together.

Where to set Weighable

The Sold by card title is Sold by. The toggle label is Weighable. Help text: Sold by weight; price comes from a scale-embedded barcode.

Set up a price label

1

Match the PLU

Open Products, create or edit the item, and set SKU to the exact 5-digit PLU on the scale. No extra characters.
2

Leave Weighable off

Do not turn on Weighable. Set any catalog Price you want — Register uses the printed amount when the cashier scans.
3

Put it on the catalog

Add the product to the catalog assigned to the terminal.

Set up a weight label

1

Match the PLU

Set SKU to the 5-digit PLU the scale prints.
2

Set the per-unit price

Enter Price as the rate for one unit (for example 8.00 if the unit is kg).
3

Turn on Weighable

On Sold by (product edit), Inventory, or catalog/category create, turn Weighable on and choose a unit whose abbreviation is kg, g, lb, or oz.
4

Put it on the catalog

Add the product to the catalog the terminal uses.
If Custom price is on, Taliup disables Weighable. Turn Custom price off first. If the unit picker is empty, open Inventory → Units. Taliup creates Kilogram (kg), Gram (g), Pound (lb), and Ounce (oz) when the entity is created and the first time someone opens catalog, product, or Units.

How the scale and Taliup agree

The unit abbreviation tells Register where the decimal goes in the five weight digits on the sticker. Use the same unit the scale is programmed for. Other abbreviations are fine for packaged items. They are rejected when Weighable is on.

Bulk upload

On Products, download a fresh template (or export) before you upload. Older files do not have these columns. On the Products sheet, immediately after Product SKU:
  • If the unit does not exist, import creates it for this merchant.
  • Weighable Yes with a non-weight unit stops that row. The unit is not created.
  • A custom-priced row (blank Price) stays custom-priced. Import turns Weighable off even if the cell says Yes.
  • Missing Weighable leaves the product not weighable. Sheets without these columns still import.

After the sale

Deleting a unit that a weighable product uses turns Weighable off on that product. Reassign a weight unit and turn Weighable back on.
